Tuesday, August 12 - Lunch & Learn - Government Center Station

Crews are hard at work to make Government Center Station more accessible, safe, comfortable, and modern. While the station was closed in March 2014 and will remain so for two years, the improvements promise to be worth the wait! YPT is excited to have Brian Howland of the MBTA and Donald Swarce of HDR, Inc. speaking at our next Lunch & Learn about the station improvements and closure, including topics such as the headhouse architecture, Cambridge Street realignment & streetscape, and City Hall Plaza restoration and improvements. Mr. Howland and Mr. Swarce will be joining us on Tuesday, August 12th from 12:00 - 1:00 PM. Find out all the fun details about this exciting project and impress your friends with your knowledge!

Please join us to hear from Mr. Howland and Mr. Swarce; free light lunch provided to those who RSVP of course!

MBTA Maintenance Facility Technical Tour

Join YPT Boston on a technical tour of one of the MBTA's primary maintenance facilities! MBTA employees will take us on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Orange Line Carhouse at Wellington. You'll see how the maintenance team overhauls and repairs train components, fabrication and manufacturing of parts for trains, and the repairing of train structure and car-body components. Over 130 trades people - from blacksmiths to electricians - work together to keep our heavy and light rail subway lines running. Cool!

Please meet at 9:45AM in the parking lot of Kelly’s Roast Beef next to the Wellington station stop. Additional details may be provided in an email to attendees a day or two before the event.

The tour is limited to 15 attendees and is for YPT Members only. If you aren't a member, join today for just $20 (annual fee) by registering for this event! (Memberships are non-refundable.) All proceeds will support future YPT events. If you're not sure of your membership status, please go to "My YPT" and login to your account to find that information.
